Forum Rules & Etiquette
Here are the rules of the website. Bear in mind that these are separate from the TOS and Privacy Policy, which you can find in the site help documents or at the very bottom of the site, on every page.

Being a community manager for several years with large and small communities alike, I know that there needs to be a balance when it comes to rules. Too strict, and people feel a little oppressed. Not enough moderation, and trolls start to take over. With that said, please follow the forum rules so that every person in the community feels welcomed.
  • English is the primary language spoken on this site. Using your native language within the PM system (privately) is perfectly acceptable, and even small bits in posts is fine too. But please respect that as an international community, we stress that English is spoken most of the time. It is entirely possible that we can add additional sections to the site for your language, should there be enough demand for it.

  • Respect. It's given, not earned around here. Please respect everyone, whether they're a member of this website or otherwise. We understand opinions vary and disagreements happen, and these things can be discussed without the use of disrespect.

  • Swearing. Also known as cursing. Refrain from doing so, but using swear words won't necessarily be grounds for punishment. Remember, don't swear at people, since that falls into the respect category. Also, don't do it excessively. Use your best judgement on this, but at the end of the day it's preferred that you don't curse at all.

  • Trolling. We all know what it looks like, don't do it. Don't bait people, and remember that two wrongs don't make a right. If someone else starts something, use the report feature of the site. We don't want a mob mentality to form either, where all of the "good guys" gang up on a troll.

  • Advertising. This can be okay, sometimes. If you have a website that you'd like to share, make sure you share it in a way that can possibly generate discussion. Don't simply link-drop and bounce — you'll most likely be suspended in the same vein as a spam bot. Advertising becomes more acceptable for those that have been around longer and have shown contribution to the forum (in the form of quality posts).

  • Politics and Religion. Nope. Nope nope nope. Unless it's within the context of Dark and Light or in the form of roleplay, these things aren't to be discussed here. Topics that contain these will be locked immediately.

  • No warez, pornography, or illegal activity. Ain't nobody got time fo dat.

These rules/etiquette may be amended at any time, but likely won't need to be. Stay cool, folks.
