RE: Character Concepts and Ideas
I also will fall into the rogue archetype, and given the game's nature was gonna aim for that same sorta explorer/looter playstyle; however I suppose I should try giving it a twist; I was thinking about morphing it into a sort of scout / pioneer that could set off on expeditions during the early stages of the game to provide intel on the outlands, perhaps selling that info depending on what I find, say I come across an abandoned dungeon, or an area with rare resources in a zone few people have ventured to; I could give out advice on the zone's general climate and mob types, and what supplies to bring to make the trip easier... but that's all assuming I'm fast enough to find anything first hahah.
I'll try to focus on a more stealth approach to things if possible, avoiding tough encounters to get to zones I'm interested in and such; It'll be interesting to see how well the game would support a wandering playstyle... just gonna have to wait for the juicy details I suppose.
PS I realize this is a old-ish post but I just recently learnt of the forum and would love to see more people come around ;__;

Yes! This exactly!
I was also thinking about the idea of picking up a smattering of elemental magic that would help with survival, some fire magic to light torches and camp fires, ice magic to preserve food while on the trail and keep cool in the deserts, etc.
I may need to put together another thread about forming a group of Pathfinders, scouts, rogues and rangers who are secretive explorers that live off the land and sell their info or their skills to people who need the help in the wild. Maybe even work it into the lore of the game somehow.

Ah yes, It would be so cool to have an "official" scouts guild in-game, one that wouldn't really have as much of a headquarters, but a communication network, heh
